So as yall know when I moved to this barn I joined 4h. My trainer is highly involved and Ive been active in all of the activities, horsebowl, hippology, and it is now horse judging season. (you judge a class, get points for placing it correctly etc. then present a set of reasons) So this activity is taken most seriously, every year there is one person from my barn on the nationals judging team and they have won at worlds, congress, etc..... So Im having a lot of fun with that. And since last week was spring break I went out before judging practice to ride. I went out to get Duchess and this cute mare, Cookie, was waiting at the gate. So Cookie followed me all around the pasture where I got Duchess. It really made me sad, no one ever rides her or takes care of her... So I rode the Duchess and it was an off day for her mood so I didnt stay on long.... So I then mentioned to my trainer how Cookie had followed me around the pasture and she was more than happy to have me want to work with her. She (cookie) has a bad reputation because she is super green so nothing is done with her, but I brought her in and she was just soo happy to have a job.
So I got on her and she has a funny trot and did not want to come down from the canter but all in all there was minimum bucking and being bad but I really liked her.... AND What made me happiest was the numerous complements I got for riding her... One lady told me it was the best shed ever seen her ridden (she is occasionally ridden by another lady or Debbie.) Another lady, Kris, said I just looked great and best of all Debbie told me I rode her better than even she does!! So I was really happy, I have also decided that Duchess is my show horse and Cookie is my project.

*Another thing is Debbie offered Cookie to me for free if I would work with her!! I dismissed it because well Ive kind of given up hope of getting a horse before college but then tonight I mentioned it to my parents and they were totally opposite of their usual 'no' selves. I barely mentioned it to my Mom and she was going on and on about how its a possibility!!

So I went to Judging tonight and took some pics of ms. cutie cookie!! (Funny thing is Im not a grey or an Arab fan!)

She's def. a cutie. She has such a short neck for her body though, its adorable! Lol. You sound just like me though, I used to ride all the horses that werent ever cared for or ridden. Just watch out, if its like my old barn, as soon as you get them really good, they take them and use them in lessons and then you want to shoot them because you made the horse what it was, and then lessons screw them up. LMFAO

I do conformation judging for school too, and I have to say, I'm pretty good at it.

ya, I have had that happen to me Lindsay and it sucks... and im one to get attached BUT ya I LOVE judging, its a blast and Im good too (not bragging but last week out of 30 only 2 people got the class placed correctly and I was one of them, and its only my first year!!! And other have been doing it for like 7 + years!!)

But Im also happy because I love being able to focus on my eq etc. when I ride Duchess but ive been getting a little bored since Im used to the crazy ones!!
