so i rode aries yesterday wiht my uncle and his horse, and aries was INCREDIBLE!! like... it was SO much fun! he woudl walk when i asked him to, trot (needing a bit of encouragment) when i asked him to, and canter when i asked him too, after a bit. he doens't quite know canter yet, so thats ok. but we were going home, and my uncle started to gallop, so i asked aries to canter, and he cantered, and he's SO smooth, and so easy to sit to! i love it! and then as we got closer to home i asked him to slow down to a trot, so i said trot, and he trotted!! with barely any rein pressure, and then i asked him to walk, said walk, and he walked! barely any rein pressure!! i was SOOO happy with him! he was SO goood, and i can't wait to ride him again ;D he's SO much fun! like... he's so good. barely spooks at anything, even though he's so inexperienced, and he's so responsive for having only been ridden like.. 7 times? its less than 10, wahtever the number is. it was SO much fun!! yay ;D ;D i heart that horse ;D ANNNDDDD the day before that (friday) i ahd the horses grazing in a little section and its on a hill, so i though. hmm. i wonder waht aries will do if i try and ride him bareback! so then i went on the uphill from him, put pressure on his back with my hands, then jumped on, and i rode him for about 5-10 minutes, bareback, with only a halter, and he was SO good!!!!!! ;D aries is so much fun

ya, i REALLY want pictures of me riding him! i need to bring a friend who can ride and take pictures at the same time he's SO good i rode him again today, and he hangs back behind the other horse.. he's not brave enough, but he trots nicely on command (esspecially when the other horse trots hahah. silly horse) and he canters, and gallops a bit ;D and then when i ask him to slow down he always does, and i don't have to do any cues hard or anything!

I'm glad he was so good! One word of caution, though: you might not want to gallop him under saddle yet, since he's so inexperienced. Even though he's been an angel for you so far, green horses are unpredictable. I'd start by training him at the walk/trot for a little while, and then once he's got those down and is consistent in his gait & behavior, add the canter. Then every now and then, gallop as a treat [for you, mainly, lol]. Just an idea! Dont wanna see you get hurt

^i know. the the places i've galloped him in are places he KNOWS and has been past a lot. and he's not really the spooking kind of horse, even though any horse can and will spook sooner or later. he was trying to catch up to his friend hahaha. nothing else was on his mind! hahaha. but ya. i don't REALLY want to be galloping him all over the place.. i mainly want to work on like.. transitions.. so getting him to walk when i say walk, trot when i say trot, canter when i say canter, then to go down from the canter into the trot when i say, down into the walk when i say and stop when i say. all with minimal pressure. still, he's so much fun i never knew i'd have so much fun with him and at one point i was thinking of selling him o.O crazzyyy crazy mee. hahah

Ohh, that's good Transititions are awesome to work on. They really help with manners, and quick responses. That's part of what I meant, too. Slow work is good because it helps create good manners. Galloping too often (especially at this point in his training) could create bad habits/manners (as well as the spooking issue). But since you're focusing on transitions with an occasional gallop I feel better. Glad you didn't sell him!
