Helmet.... so frustrated.

I've loved my Troxel legacy gold schooling helmet... it fits great, it's comfortable, etc. I need a new one, though, and I've discovered they've discontinued the schooling version. Now they have training and performance models, but neither of them fit well or are comfortable. It makes me mad I don't know what to do. I have to get a new helmet, but there aren't any that really work. Ehh.

I guess this is mainly a vent.

Are you looking specificaly for one of the plastic schooling ones?
Because I have a GR8 and would reccomend it to ANYONE it fit. I absolutely love it.
I also have a GPA (man i'm like a helmet whore) which i dont like at all, but some people love them.
On the cheaper side, my friend has a tippery and loves it =]

I don't have to be looking for anything specific. I just know I love that helmet so that's why I want another just like it. I just want something that's safe, feels good, and doesn't make my head look ugly. haha.

yeah.
If you just want something for riding around the barn in then the GPA or GR8 are probably a bit more pricey!

but international (IRH) and tippary(sp?) are both fairly cheap and good for schooling in.

Oh ok. I knew GPAs were expensive, but I didn't know GR8s were too. I think my local tack shop might've found a helmet like my old one, but if that one doesn't work out it looks like I might have to venture away from Troxel and into IRH.

SO ANNOYED. My tack shop called and said they found a helmet like my old one, so I was excited and went to pick it up... looked fine... didn't bother trying it on... got it home and realized it's a large, not a medium. It was in a medium box, though. When I put it next to my medium it looks like a boat.

aw bummer..we had an older model troxel legacy left from my moms shop in a medium, but we donated it to the theireputic program where emma is =/

On the bright side, everyone knows me at my tack shop now. I knew about half of them anyway, from shows, frequent visits, etc, but now the rest of them know me by name. haha.

aww I feel your pain with the helmet situation. I'm not in the same situation, but I'm having difficulties in that area also haha

I fucking LOST (idk how that one happened =[ I looked everywhere) my IRH helmet... idk the exact name of the one I had... but I was so fucking pissed, because it wasn't cheap.. and now I have to go buy myself a new one =[ So, I've been using my old troxel legacy gold duratec.. and I HATE that helmet, it doesn't fit me well at all. Plus, it's so old and probably barely even works from falling on it so many times.. ugh.

I feel like I'm going to be completely broke soon.

Aww, I'm sorry! The situation sucks, doesn't it? I was about to ask you if you'd send me your legacy gold, but if it's old and you've fallen on it a lot, I'd rather not have it. haha. Good luck finding a helmet! I might try out IRH one day. I tried one style on and the straps hit me in the wrong spot and it felt like they were choking me, but maybe another style would fit better. I might have to do that if I can't find a legacy gold...

Update in the helmet drama! I took back the helmet that's too big... our tack shop doesn't do refunds but I wanted to get store credit... one lady who has never been friendly told me "This model has been discontinued so I don't think we can take it back..." Another lady (the one who has been through this entire saga with me... my mom and I think she's one of the managers) overheard her and said "Well she bought it here. Of course we'll take it back if it doesn't work." So we went back to the front of the store, and the lady (the nice one) said "You know what, I'm going to give you your money back. I don't usually do this, but under these circumstances, and since you know what you want and we don't have it, I want to give you your money so you can find the helmet somewhere else." I was like "Are you serious?? Thank you SO much. I really appreciate it." Then she said "Also, I'm still trying to get those boots in early for you" (i bought some boots that are the wrong size and it was going to take 4-6 weeks to get them in... and she's trying to pull strings for me). So I thanked her again, and said "Well, you know I'll be back to spend more money, so I really appreciate the refund."

I think I found my helmet at Tractor Supply, too. Hopefully they'll still have it... maybe I'll buy 2 so I'll have a backup, since this is a discontinued model....haha.

So... still no helmet, but I got a refund at a tack shop that does exchanges/store credits only!!

Oh, ok lemme tell you....I LOVED MY TORXEL LEGACY! loved it I loved the outside of it...

I love it too. The nearest TSCs are about 45 minutes away in several directions, and luckily my dad is going to be where one of them is tomorrow! I asked him if he'd stop by and see what they had. I was like "I'll tell you exactly what to look for... on second thought, here, take my old one as an example." Then I taped a description on top of the helmet just in case. lol.

So.... cross your fingers guys! haha. I told my dad "if they have any, buy 50 so I'll be covered for the rest of my life."

i have a troxel helmet. its white, and i LOVE it. its SO comfy. i forget which style exactly, but i know its the white one keeps my head nice and cool during hot weather when riding.
