go right ahead and suggest, hannah! i'm totally open and i want to know what you have to say we're still working on tons of stuff, and she likes to drop her shoulder, sooooo... hahaha and she likes to jack her head up super high, so we're working on it. shes getting a LOT better than what she used to be like though, which is good

looking great, just bend your elbows elbows in, dont brace on her as much, you could let your reins out a touch, they are really restricting elbows in, you are really stiff with your arms and bracing against her head, you were probably asking her to bring her head down more but you look extremely stiff here she seems quite resistant to the bit and your elbows could be in more, you tend to have chicken arms (i have that problem sometimes too) piano hands and it appears that you are gripping with your upper leg and knee rather than using your calf in this picture your reins should be shorter, right now you are trying to slow her down but the reins are too long so you are having to move your hand position, your hands are way too far from her wither area. I was in a critiquing mood so just check below the pic And overall your heel could go down more and dont forget to give with your hands and keep elbows in ;D you are looking so much better! (oh and in a couple of those your leg could go back a hair but not bad)

ok, so my problem with her, is that she LOVES to rush. and when i say love, i mean LOVE. speed is her thing. if she were a racehorse she would win anything hands down, thats how much she likes speed so i know i'm really restricting with the reins and stuff, becuase if i let any more loose, she just speeds up. its really frustrating.. and if i'm gripping with my thighs and knees, its beucase i feel like if i close my calf she'll think i'm asking her to go faster, but i'm not.. any way to fix this at all? like.. once she quits rushing, she'll be way easier. because when she rushes, her head goes up into space and then theres like.. "nothing i can do" so to say.. i'm thinking i want to get a few lessons with my friends instructor who is REALLY good.. i just need to find some time to do that and stuff. maybe i'll get some in the summer once school is over.. and get some lessons with aries too but ya. any tips for slowing her down? i'm always half halting and stuff, and trying to stay slow to get her to relaxe, but there's still something missing or off :S you said to give with my hands.. so maybe keep shorter reins but move my hands so she can get her flowing movement going? becuase once she decides not to take off, her walk is really nice. its fast, but its not rushy or anything.. so maybe i'm making her feel rushed/panicy? or something?

okay you know have you say when you let her reins so she wants to go faster.. I'm just giving a suggesting you should really try it it works..
When your riding put spurs on now if you have never used them introduce them to her slowly but like walking her around herself and so she cant get away from you or buck. But start at a walk put your spurs in to her and move your fingertips bumping your reins which will see-saw the bit, but don't pull back.At first she will speed up ,when she does squezze harder with your spurs. But when she starts to slow down and she will actually start to drop her head, give her back the reins and release the pressure of your legs.At first while she is learning it will take a bit so just wait on her and always release as quick as you can because that is her reward and she will realize of this is a good thing!Eventually you will just be able to pick up the reins and put a little leg and she will go down and soften.
I do this on joker EVERY time i ride him
But it really works. And it won't hurt to try lol

maybe i'll try that with an instructor. i might by myself if i knew how to use spurs, but i never have before, so i really don't want to hurt her. i'm still learning so much. like.. i'm a good rider in the sense that i don't fall off.. like, its impossible for me to fall off of midnight, i know her that well. but i don' tknow so much technical stuff and midnight can be really stubborn. should i just let her go on a looser rein and half halt her lots to just let her stretch out her walk? would that at all help? i also think half the problem was that i was in her field, and not an arena.. i'm pretty sure she does a LOT better in an arena than just a field..
