Been gone a while but i've been very busy I posted a while ago because Jimbo went lame, well he was lame for about a week before finally, after we had said a thousand times, they took the show off to find an abscess. I could have murdered someone, especially the farrier, because he had caused the abscess and we kept calling him out and he kept saying "he'll be fine he's just a bit sore" So i now refuse to ever have him near my horse again and we charged him £200 + the cost of the shoes and stuff. Haha!!! Anyway aftera week of poulticing he got Gel pads put on his front feet and i started slow walks with him then worked up which took about 1 and a half weeks before we started jumping again. Anyway now he's fine and we have a show coming up, 29th July, which is at our yard and is for a charity. The Chloe Cotton Trust, sponsored by John Whitaker, who is apparently going to be there. I have a new trainer/instructor. Lucy she's the yard owners daughter and competes at some top show jumping classes and stuff, she has the most amazing horses and she has taught me loads. So here's some pics of my improvements. I know i still have a lot to work on, like stirrups and stuff but i think, personally, i have improved a ton. and then Today Not perfect but i never will be at least i'm trying Enjoy and no nasty crits, although nice, helpful ones appreciated, although not to many! Steph xx EDIT: Also if anyone would like to make me a sig i would really appreciate it ;D

I have to compliment you on doing a release now! I believe that it was you who didnt release much (not 100% sure though).
You back is also much flatter than it used to be. Could use some polishing though. But, you're jumping ahead in every picture. You're crotch needs to hover over the middle of the saddle. Not the tree. Also only put the stirrup on only up to the ball of your foot, not in any further. And shorten your stirrups at lease a hole & a half for jumping. In one picture you have practically a 180 degree leg! Much better...
And I'm still going to keep asking this, why are you jumping so high? First, I hope that you warmed up over an x-rail or a small vertical (because tehre are no pics of this). But I think you need to polish up over the small, then move up.

I agree, you are jumping way up his neck, but have much improved from before. Shorten your stirrups and sink into your heels, right now you are balancing on your toes..this is most likely because your stirrups are too long for jumping. You have your foot jammed into the stirrup and are just laying on your horses nech over the fences. Make sure you wait for your horse to jump and close your hip angle. My guess would be that you go into jump position before your horse jumps and push your body up his neck..correct me if i'm wrong. Sit back and wait for the fence to come to you.

On top of what Lindsay and Rebecca said, your horse looks under muscled, and over-weight for the kind of work you seem to be doing. Although many people don't relize it, it's worse to have an over weight horse than an underweight horse. Being over weight is very tough on them. I would lessen the amount of grain he gets and work on the flat before you start jumping him at this height. His hind end is virtually flab. You need to do lots of hill work and gymnastics before you start jumping him around a course.
Also, you wouldn't be hurt by taking the stirrups off your saddle for a month. You are relying on your stirrup for balance by standing on your toes. This is why your foot gets jammed into the stirrup.

I don't care what they say you may have improved but you still are wayyy off to be jumping the fences you are...like i said before your horse is used t having someone who knows what their doing and by you contiuing to mess with him hes going to stop and go the way of your other horses...
