After reading the thread about Belle, I wanted to know how many people have insurance on their horse.
Honestly, thank God I have yet to use it, but if my horse every needed anything major *knock on wood* I would be okay with money. We have a $250 deductable, which means that if the bill is $750, we only pay 250 and the insurance will cover the 500 (pretty sure thats how it works). I think that it would be a live saver if anything where to happen that was major.
So anyone else?
EDIT:
Like I dont mean insurance that covers you or anyone else if they get hurt around your horse.
I mean insurance that covers your horses injuries (major medical, mortality)

i usually get insurance from a BC thing, but this year i havn't because my dad has insurance stuff that might cover everything.. but i'm not sure if it's for the horses, or if i get hurt, or someone else gets hurt and stuff.. so ya. i'm not checking a thing on the poll, but we usually have some sort of insurance..

Nope, none of our horses have insurance on them. We have debated on getting it on Princess because she is our best broodmare, but so far we haven't. And we cannot get it on Glory because she is too old, and so is Savy. I think if I ever start REALLY showing any of them and they do well I will go ahead and get it...but as of now, no.

We have this general insurance that covers my horse..so not specific equine insurance, but something that will cover him.

Odie has major medical and mortality. Not sure what the deductible is...he was insured before he even got in the trailer to come home.

Deirdre had insured Danny after having two horses require colic surgery. For the price (about $200 a year), we'll keep it up after he's completely mine.
