new horse for me?

i don't know if anyone remembers or not, but last year i sold my horse belle because i couldn't find a barn close to my house, and i intended to go to public school instead of being homeschooled, and she was green broke and needed more time and attention that i would have to give.

i really regret that now though. i miss her like crazy, but what's done is done. next school year i'm being homeschooled though, which means plenty of time for a horse. also i'm finally getting a job, and give or take i should make about $400 a month, starting next month, so i should be able to save up my money quickly, although i'll have to buy all new tack and other supplies as my old barn owner simply gave away my stuff when i wasn't able to go to the barn for a while. really made me mad, but nothing can be done. plus a little extra for a vet check! :] anyway, i'm hoping to look around at some horses in the coming weeks and if i can find a good horse who isn't green broke or anything, but isn't push-button. just a nice companion for me that i can train to do a few simple new things and compete in small shows with. i ride english and western. i'm rambling, haha. i'll shutup. i want some opinions on some horses though...these are just some i looked up today, i havn't actually made plans to see any of them so i can only judge from their ads.

Good luck horse searching! If you ever want a yearling let me know, I have 2 for sale for good prices! =) Haha. So far I like the first one best. What area are you looking for a horse in? I'm in western NC and know a few nice horses for sale....and what's your price range? And what exactly are you wanting to do, and what type of horse?

1. he has a little bit of a swayed back not a good topline at all! if you want to run barrels i don't know how good of a barrel horse he would make by his build, he is GORGEOUS THOUGH but dont just go for him cause he comes with a saddle.

2. reallyyy prettyy but again i dont know if you want to do barrels or not but usually gaited horses dont do well at it

3. i wouldnt it's usually really hard to put weight on an old horse and you said you would be making $400 a month and older horses usually need special feed and care.

4. i would definatly consider this horse more than any of them he's young built well nice conformation from what i can tell and looks like he would be a great horse he's almost like a bell twin!

i used to run barrels but i quit. i was into jumping for a while, and actually rikki you just reminded me that i should probably take that into concideration, incase i might start that again. but no barrels. i see what you mean about number 1 being sway back, thanks for pointing that out!

i've seen a paso do barrels practicing for the rodeo... lol i tried really hard not to crack up. he looked really awkward poor fellow. as for the older horse, she was the one i was least concidering because of the age and how it makes things different in her care.

the more i look at 4 the more i like him. he really does have nice conformation, and his markings are cute...he does resemble belle! and hes 15.3hhs which is fairly big and i'm getting pretty tall (i was almost too tall for belle haha) and i'll top out at 5'8"-5'9". of course i've learned never to put my money on the first horse i see, or buy before i meet them!

i havn't seen any more ads yet. this is basically what i'm wanting though incase anyone finds an ad i havn't seen:

any breed, except i'm a little shy of the gaited breeds.
any color because color tells me nothing of the horse unless its cremello because i'm a little skeptical of the care of pink-skinned horses.
5-15 years
15+ hands (for my ever growing self lol)
mainly i'll be doing small, local fun shows, lessons, perhaps SMALL jumping, probably not anything over 18" if that, i do english and western (pleasure no rodeo sports and such) and trail riding.
1-5 temperment
and i really don't have a price limit, it's just the more expensive the longer it'll take to earn the money, you know. i've been seaching horses in the $1500 range.
125 miles max from zip code 28504, as i'd be renting a trailer and gas prices are insane.

So, I've found 2 other candidates so far. There was a third, but I questioned the owner and the horse wasn't trained to canter yet so I dismissed that one.

^He's my favorite. I've quested the owner alot, and she's really nice. He sounds like exactly what I'm looking for, and in addition to meeting those requirments based on what I'm told about him, he's pretty!

don't get a horse with arthritis is you plan on riding it because when he gets older you'll be stuck with a horse that you cant ride and nobody wants to buy and the medicine and supplements can get pretty pricey!
