I had my first riding lesson in a LONG time today; with camp next week I wanted to make sure my equitation was perfect. My trainer has let me come ride for the past year or two but I haven't had instruction, so it was really nice getting that work today. She told me my form looked awesome -- the only things she told me to do were to round my back out a little more (not so much where it's actually round, but enough where it's straight. She said it was a little hollow) and to flatten my wrists. When we first started Genius was pretty rough; partially due to my hollow back and partially due to him needing to poop Once he pooped and once I fixed my back, he smoothed out so much and he did a pretty incredible job. His canter has gotten a little fast, especially on his right lead, and his transitions need a little work, but other than that he was great. Equitation really does help everything... the rider, the horse, the picture.
Haha. We did a couple patterns and the first time I did each of them it was pretty bad but once I understood what I was doing everything went so smoothly.
I'm rambling, but I just had to let it out. It was SO nice having one-on-one time with my trainer. We accomplished so much in 45 minutes. I might just have to have another lesson when I get back; I forgot how much I loved instruction
I leave for camp on Tuesday. My parents aren't staying up so I don't know how many pictures I'll be able to get, but I'll do my best. I'll bring back all the details!
