Diamond has way too much energy. Hes a sweatheart, he has a great personality and hes a pretty smooth ride. He could be a great horse, except he cant be riden on his own.. He gets way to excited and just wants to run. The guy who is training to be a vet took diamond on the trails alone one day, and Daimond threatened to rear up on him. Diamond also did this to Sandra yesterday when we were out for a ride. What could you do to calm him down? Hes really developed some bad habits, mostly because the owner had bone cancer last year and didn't have time to work with Diamond himself. The owner said this yesterday. So i'm asuming he hasn't been like this very long..

Ground work, respect fo the human's space...being walked alone, possibly being turned out for a lil alone and genrally just repremanding his behavior when he's by himself...a good free lunge before riding w/o tack might help and then some calm walk around arena once alone with no upsets and then be done...

Do alot of ground work.. Look at clinton anderson webpage or if you can get some dvds and watch them. Do lots of lunging before you ride out on the trail...
