Awww, I'm sorry. I guess I can kinda see where they're coming from about not seeing you at the barn in awhile, but that's NOT their business. Windy isn't your responsibility to take care of; it's your trainer's & the barn staff's. I think people get so used to seeing other people care so deeply for horses that aren't their own that they forget and turn their noses up when they can't get to the barn as often. It sort of happened to me with my trainer's husband. He was joking and it wasn't in a rude way (just a dry sense of humor joke)... I hadn't been in a couple weeks due to many circumstances, but I hadn't seen him in a LONG time either, due to his work. He came up to me once and said "I haven't seen you out here in a LONG time. You're not losing interest are you?" I know he was joking but I took it to heart and I felt really bad. lol.
I hope lessons go well, and I hope Windy gets better!

I hope she gets better soon, can I just add, I find it difficult to accept she has been lame all summer because her bend was incorrect in one session. I ride dressage horses all day every day and we bend our horses both ways on one rein (ie incorrect and correct bend) to get them into certain reins, suppling etc etc. So I dont see how that would make her lame ALL summer, has the vet taken other steps to fix her? That manager sound like a total biarch!!! I hope things get better for you..

wowowww I don't know your situation, but that lady needs to keep her opinions to herself. Windy isn't your horse, nor do you lease her, or even lesson on her much anymore (thats what im assuming atleast) so why in the world would it be your responsibility to come out and care for Windy? Good luck with Windy and the whole situation..

and Erin I understand why you kinda understand, but had in come from any other person at the barn that KNOWS me i wouldn't have been as angry, but the fact that this was basicly the first time she had met me, i really felt that it was out of place ya know? like i would NEVER say anything like that to her, even if I had known her for years. Oh, I know what you mean. I hope I didn't come across the wrong way. I deal with it at my barn a lot. There are some things that people expect me to do with the horses, and I just want to scream "He's not mine; it's not my responsibility!!" I LOVE caring for the horses and will help whenever possible, but there are times where I get frustrated. Similarly, Windy isn't your responsibility. They shouldn't act like she is; especially when they don't even know you! I understand your frustration!

Shawna, the world does not revolve around you. You don't own windy...no one has any obligation whatsoever to call you (when you havent been to the barn in HOW long?) to tell you that Windy has been lame. Honestly, they probably think you wouldn't even be that interested. Actually, if they did call you they would have to call every single other kid who has an infatuation for some pony (which is every little kid...ever...) when they turned up lame, got a runny nose, whatever.
And its true, if you did care about Windy you might come visit occasionally or if you didn't have a ride, pop an email over to your trainer to check on her. Thats what I do when I can't get out there because of work.
