Okay, so Sonny and I have been doing AMAZING lately. I'm SO happy with how he's been improving.. It's so rewarding to see him getting better & better and knowing that it's because I've been working with him. He's really starting to get the hang of the English gaits, and he's definitely engaging his hind end a LOT more than he had been and like, he collects (not much, but he's getting there =] ) and his bending has improved a lottt also =] He's still a little unbalanced and gets uncoordinated from time to time, but not nearly as bad as he had been =] I've been doing lots of circles and figure 8s, serpentines, etc. to keep his mind constantly focused and to work on getting him bending better, and in straighter lines when necessary. He tends to bulge out a little bit, but when I correct it, he responds pretty well. With Jumping, he's not really ready for course work yet, because he has trouble understanding what to do with a single jumps when they're spread out. But, I've been working on gymnastics with him, and he's been getting a lot more balanced and controlled.. the other day he impressed me a LOT we did a cross rail, 1 stride to a vertical (about 2') and then 1 stride to an oxer (2'3) and he took it AMAZING every time. I was SO proud of him =]] My trainer Jackie was SO thrilled because neither of us were sure how he'd do. I'm just SOO happy =] He's turning into a nice lil English pony =]] It's taking some time, but he's getting there. heh he's SUCH a sweetheart, and I'm really excited because in the beginning it was hard with him, because he didn't know wtf to do, even Wayne (barn owner) told my mom that he's really happy I've been leasing him because I'm doing a really great job, and before I leased him, he had no potential. Like, in the beginning of my lease I was like ugh I don't know if this is going to work out.. but he definitely proved me wrong =]
