So today I go to the barn, he only came in from turnut about an hour ago, I tack him up and ride. He was fine on cross ties, and being so good. I only basically stretched him because he was wormed yesterday. So I cool him out walking around the property. So I get off, and he's fine and all this stuff. Then out of no where, he starts to paw. Now Levi DOES NOT paw, by any means. So I'm thinking he has to pee. I finish up with him quickly and stick him in his stall. Well he's pawing in his stall too. So then we made him up some hay cubes, I stick that in the stall, and he turns his nose up to it. LEVI DOESNT DO THAT EITHER. He eats it all in one shot and pushes me out of the way or it. So he's still pawing, so I'm like let me get some bran mash and see if he eats that.. And thats a no-go. Which is also REALLY weird. He ate 2 handfuls from my hand. So he's constantly pawing, then I realize that that since I got there, rode him and put him away (inluding the hour that he came in from T/O), there was nothing but a small pile poop. So I get nervous, immediately take him out and walk him. I call my vet and of course (like I guessed) he was going to say to give him 10cc of banamine and call him back in 20.. WELL, no banamine in site.. ANYWHERE. So the vet definately had to come . He rectaled him, tubed him and pumped oil into him, and gave him a few shots of banamine, robaxin, and other things. Turns out he was mildly colicing, and slightly dehydrated, which is SOOO weird because my horse drinks ridic. So I have to check to make sure that the paddock that he goes in has FRESH CLEAN water, because my horse is high matience.
So, all in all, Levi is fine. He's going to have a few days of just hand walking & bareback walking. But I love knowing when something isnt right with him, and I'm happy I didnt leave. So I finally got home at 12. So, that was my eventful night =).

Doesnt your place have electric waterer's? so you never have to check it (although we check everyday to make sure they work) Its just always clean....

I don't know about Lindsay's barn, but my BO looked into electric waterers but decided against it because she likes to know how much or how little each horse is drinking and you can;t really tell if the water is automatically filling up. Although I have boarded at barns with electric waterers and they are so convenient!

No electric waterers. And Levi is a big drinker. So we're monitering that.
He coliced because of weather change. On tuesday it was 54 DEGREES. ITS FUCKING AUGUST and by Thursday it was 91 degrees. So big weather change
