Cheyenne has been the same freaking way!!! I've used a jointed kimberwick, myler, and a full cheek snaffle! Its getting annoying!! (but i tried a dr. cook bitless bridle and he was AMAZING, it just sucks I can't show him in it)

have you ever looked into it being a training issue (lack of acceptance of the bridle) as opposed to him not liking the bit? You can always wrap the bit in a fruit roll-up, get flavored whipes (sold at tack shops) or a bit with some copper to encourage chewing and salivating. Right now my trainer is all over this horse gum that she orders from down south..haha i don't know that im falling for it, but she swears by it! I'd try lots of things before saying "he doesn't like whatever bit"

Now, what is your definition of "running through". Does this mean he runs off with you, or he ignores all mouth pressure, what? If you tell me this, I might be able to tell you of a good bit to use.
Great idea Rebecca. They also sell Lickity Bits, which is essentially the same thing as a fruit roll up (more expensive, but less gooey).

He ignores all mouth pressure, and basically, when he wants to go,nothings gonna stop that little bitchhh : )
I've tried heavy and light contact with the reins, but he reallyy just is very picky about his bits...the woman told us that when we bought him
And yeah...

Maybe you need to ask a professional, I've found they know bits and their functions and what would work..also what your doing..

By what you're explaining, it sounds like he has a hard mouth. If you keep putting harsher bits in his mouth, then his mouth will keep getting harder and harder. (by harder, i mean his mouth feels hard in your hands as if he is ignoring all aids) When you ask him to stop does he open his mouth or put his head up to avoid contact, ball up to get behind the vertical, or put his head out and plow?
Like nina said, a pro would be your best bet. I would keep him in some sort of snaffle until you change barns and see if the trainer there can offer you any help.

have you tried bitless or riding in a halter? i've forgotten if you mentioned that... maybe he just doesn't like bits OR maybe he still has wolf teeth that need to be pulled and so they're bugging him?? or maybe his teeth are just plain old uncomfortable.. just a thought and i totally forget if any of it has been mentioned at all

My first pony robin is the same way. she was previously a school horse, with all the riders pulling on her mouth, now when i ask her to whoa it means nothing to her. she just pushes right through the bit. it's a shame, but if I can get a nice headset and get her to relax she's Okay.
