Windy's Lame again......question

so it is one of her front legs, i went out to the barn today, but i didn't get a chance to go up and see her, because i was helping my trainer with some stuff, and then my mom needed me to run by the pet store so i had to leave earlier than i thought....................

but anyways...........yeah, so I am gunna start taking lessons again ever Thursday.........which i am super excited about, but now I probably won't get to ride Windy for a while =[. I'll probably ride a horse named Angel that is owned by this guy that boards there, but i really don't like her, i rode her a few years back when Windy went nuts, she just doesn't float my boat. Plus I am always afraid i am gunna break her or something, she is built so weird, her legs are like toothpicks and her body is sorta wide and sorta narrow at the same time........I don't really know how to explain it (she is a TB).


Anyways, my trainer is pretty sure it has something to do with her shoulder, and not neccessarily the leg............she has had the chiropractor come out 2 or 3 times in the past, and he wasn't totally sure what it was either......
It is just really weird cause she'll be great for a few weeks, then be off for a month or two, then great again............


So my question is.........does anyone know what it might be?




again sorry if there is typos, but I am supposed to be doing some Anatomy homework but wanted to post this while i was thinking about it........if it is really annoying i'll edit it later.



edit: this is kinda random.......but i got to see my friend ride her horse that she got about 8 months ago he was an OTTB, but he hadn't been on the track for about a year before she got him.......but he was crazy when she got him, she has done great work on building up his muscle and just making him level headed. He is about 5 now and for his age he is absolutely amazing...........his hind end is really narrow though....... She wants to train him to do dressage eventually. I just love him, his name is Fonzie. here is a pic of him.


*this picture is from feb. when she got him, he is a lot more muscular, and she is working on putting more weight on him. He is HUGE. She is 5'11 and they are a perfect fit for each other. I dunno i just really love this horse!

just cuz she is TB doesnt mean she is wide with skinny legs. TB's arent known for being wide with skinny legs....so dont put the blame on her being TB. and to be honest, idk where u wanna go with riding but if u wanan go "far" ur gonna have to put up with riding horses you dont like. just be thankfull you atleast HAVE a horse to ride rather than complaining about its conformation.

and about the Windy thing, im sorry i dont think any of us are qualified to put an exact diagnosis on Windy. All we can suggest is what you should do.
continue wha tyour doing, dont work her to hard even if she is appearing to feel better cause if it keeps coming back its obvisouly something and working her isnt gonna make it better if it keeps coming back.
Get other vets opinions, dont just get 1. Get your farriers opinion...surprisingly farriers know ALOT. my farrier worked with my vet to figure out what was wrong with Nikita.

1)I didn't blame it on her being a TB, i was just saying her breed.........I have ridden this horse before, and i don't like her because she is a lazy brat............when I'm not on her I like her, she has a cute personality, but her owner lets her get away with weird things so she is a bear to ride.............


2)We have gotten a farriers opinion and a chiropractors opinion and a vets oppinion and nobody knows. I thought maybe you guys would have an idea of something that maybe wasn't a cure, but could help me prevent her being lame so much.

your situation is sounding like my friends. her horse for the past week is sound..but has been lame on and off for the past few months. they still have NO idea what it is theyve blocked the leg and they have NO idea. were keeping our fingers crossed he stays sound this time.

on the other hand it also sounds like my friend katies horse. it was so weird it would come out some days completely sound and amazing and then for the next week dead lame. they did tests..turns out the horse has lymes and needed medication

shawna that really suck! i hope she gets better soon and stays better for more than a few weeks!
and i know where your coming from with the tb..there was a horse at the trail barn that i hated riding cause he was lazy but on the ground he was great, i was inlove with his personality just not when i was on him.

That is EXACTLY how Windy will be, she will be lame one week, then the next week its like nothing ever happend to her..........but I'm so nervous that when i ride her after she has been off that i am going to over-work her and cause her to be lame again, so i mainly just walk her, and if she feels ok I might do a couple laps of trotting each direction and if I absolutely think she is going to be alright I'll do 1 lap of a canter each direction................

That really sucks Shawna =[ I don't know what to tell you, other than to keep searching and keep asking different vets and farriers. I'm glad you're getting lessons again, though! You must be excited =]

Sandraa do you mean Spice? when you said at THE trail barn I thought you meant Danny's haha. But I dont think there is anything to blame on the breed its self. If they are lazy its probably because they are retired racers and enjoying life away from the track. Some are still very energetic.

Has she been looked at by a vet? It is a little worisome that she is off and on lame. How old is she now?

yeah she has been looked at just about every time she goes lame now..........she is 9.
