Grrr Gabby!

So gabby's trianing is coming along AMAZING!! As you know im not the one training her, however my trainer wants me to ride her alot when she is there to help me with things. Cause im so used to riding Nikita who knows what to do when i ask then Gabby has no effin clue! (she is getting there)
She could MAYBE do a training level...for sure this spring!!! its just a tight scheduale for both my trianer and i to be out there all the time.
anyway enough of my rambling
she is able to come forward, she still kind of has a "western canter" (or should i say lope? lol idk if theres a difference) cuz she was started under western for 30 days or w/e....but she is too English to be western
so yea..anyway she wiill just randomly stop out of nowhere. like we will be going along beautifully and everything looks great then all of a sudden BAM!!! she stops on a dime. i fell off twice cuz of this. I carry a crop (i prefer crops over anything) and it seems to help cuz she knows what the crop is for but i HATE using it. like i never beat her with it lol...i just do not like using it in anyway....cuz once she stops she will NOT go again. She does it on the lead line too. You will just be leading her around and she will just stop and stand there for like 2 minutes and if you pull in the slightest way she backs up.
She is a GREAT GREAT horse and is gonna be fricken cute english horse once her training is done...but she has her little quirks. Its not totally JUST me...like at first i thought i was doing something wrong but she does it for alot of people (like when they lead her out of the pasture back to her paddock)

any suggestions? im getting so frustrated!!!!! i RARELY see the trainer who is training Gabby and she is aware of it but gabby never does it for her cuz she is like 20398102 times better than me, but still! Gabby does it for everyone except her! lol

It's nice to "see" you again hope you are doing well...
I know I haven't acted maturely in the past and I apologize.
If you would like my adivce:

She may be really sensitive(and even over senstive) to your seat. If you slow your seat or break the rhythm, that could cause her to stop. Evaluate and pay close attention to yourself to see if this is the case. Remember to keep your seat(hips) moving. Also make sure you are not leaning forward.

If she is just stopping at random, I would make good use of that crop. The minute she gets behind the motion, I would give her a good WHACK behind your leg if she doesn't litsen when you ask her to continue forward. Hopefully she isn't too difficult and will comply, but some horses will protest and buck. So just be ready.

Btw, Gabby is my new horse...i still have Nikita tho and use her just as much thanks tho!! i highly doubt she would ever buck! shes a really great horse. i have to give her 3 good wacks before she even moves.

its so fucking annoying!!! and we wont jump her untill she stops this. we want her to do basic dressage and hunter. She is full QH and i know some ppl dont like QH in hunter, but she has potential...

Make sure when you give her a whack, make sure its an I MEAN IT WHAAAAACK!

Hopefully you'll only have to do it once or twice!
Good luck with her. There's no reason any breed of horse that has the right gaits and movement type can't do hunters.

What about when on the lead line??? just carry a whip? lol
I was walking once and didnt notice she stopped and i t pulled me, i fell backwards into horse poop!!! thats how annoying it is.

I'll just keep doing what im doing then (i do wack her, when she does it but i try to give her the chance to get going again)

I agree. Make going forward a "happy place" (when she goes forward, the whacking/kicking/whatever) stops, and make stopping an unhappy place (obviously not abusive, but not a comfortable place either) Eventually she will catch on that it is much more comfortable to go forward.
