very cool. what kind of saddle is it? Are you dead set on black leather? Yea cause brown tack doesn't suit him and my event saddle [which was made for him and has all gelpads in the seat and knee rolls and is extremly comfy for us both] is black and i have a black bridles So getting a brown one would mean i have to buy and brown bridle, and i just love him in black! Plus for showing [as in style and appearance] Bays with black manes, tails and legs are meant to be in black tack, so no point buying brown... lol!! I proberly won't get a wintec one because tbh as comfy as some of them are, most give me wedgies haha!! I now have someone who is bringing along 2 black leather ones to try when the saddle fitter is there, so i might be getting a leather one o and the day has changed to monday -sigh- but only because i am going to go upto my aunties to see my mares and buy a tweed jacket and whips and gloves and other things Steph x Yeah, buying tack to match a saddle adds up! haha In the US it's acceptable to ride in a brown dressage saddle on any horse although black is much more popular. And I'm with Jessi on this one, if I were in your shoes Jay, I would go with a jumping saddle. All purpose saddles are very poorly balanced and will make it tough to keep a position. The sit you upright like a dressage saddle, but put your legs in a jumping position.

Yea....i have to get on that. I was at a show and this chick was like "What kind of saddle is that?" im like "County Stubben and a wintec" i like to call it, a Wicubben jk. but yeah, i'll get on that before show season starts lol....its working great for now haha. to be honst, i dont really care WHAT i get for Gabby. as long as it fits her, fits me, cheap and i can jump in it. If it means it being an all purpose...then ok! but as for right now im not trying to be picky. she is very hard horse to fit. so yeah...but i do plan on saving up to buying a nice one for her someday.

What makes you think that you can get an all purpose cheaper than a close contact?

Just the fact that everyone i've looked at has been WAAAAAY out of my price range. If i find a cheap one i wont rule it out.
Im set on the all purpose. Besides, the lady who is riding her since i can only get out 1 day a week doesnt ride jumpers so it would benefit her as well. Im set on the all purpose but like i said wont rule it out if i find one.

guys, seroiusly.. if jay wants to get an all purpose, she's going to get an all purpose.. its her choice, and its not necesarily a final choice on saddles. quit trying to do your best to change her mind. she's heard you, and you've said a billion times that she should just get a jumping saddle.. i think the first time was enough.. jay is going to get a saddle that fits her and gabby. if thats an all purpose, its an all purose. if she finds a jumping saddle thats cheap enough, then thats what it will be... ok. i'm done my bit.. and i LOVE black tack, steph. hahah. i prefere it over brown of any colour on any horse, although brown does look good on some horses. but ya. i'd be getting a black dressage too, not a brown i don't think i'd ever consider a brown dressage.. i hope you have fun fitting jimbo you need to post pictures of you and him on here..

haha thanks Candace, im not upset or nething lol....it was kind of annoying they kept repeating getting the jumping saddle cuz i made up my mind lol. Maybe it is what they would do, but Gabby isnt theres and they are not in my position. This isnt going to be my "permanent" saddle, so if we could drop it...seriously. The saddle im going to get is the one i will use untill i have enough money to purchase one. besides, if ANYONE can find a jumping saddle that would fit a 15.2hh QH with no withers withiin a 45 mile radius then feel free to look it up for me and let me know. I've been ever since we got her, so....good luck! Yes i could go off ebay or w/e but im NOT going to purchase a saddle whatso ever unless i see it in person. So buying one and having it sent here is out of the question. So yea, if it bugs you that much...feel free to find one for me Good luck!!!

ya, i thought it was getting.. old.. to keep repeating. if people try to press their opinion on you and MAKE you go their way, i find it really turns me off for wanting to even consider their opinion.. i hope you find a saddle that fits both you AND gabby. same goes for steph let us know as soon as you get some tried out and stuff

Ha thanks Em...i'll get measurments n stuff but im a 17" at this point idc if its brown, black, purple or rainbow! Lol i just want something to fit her!! icant find ANYTHING. I've brought her measurments into Horse and Hound and i tried out a couple and no matter how tight i put the girth the saddle is always slipping to the side. So in the future i may have to invest in a custom made if i really havin this much trouble Keep em open for me

Just a suggestion, if you are having a slipping problem, a no-slip pad will help.
