Yesterday we went to the tack shop and my mum asked them about dressage saddles, and i sat on a couple and stuff i thought it was just to see, so i could get one when i had the money but then mum arranged for the saddle fitter to come and fit him one on Saturday! It is to be my main Christmas present and i can use it at my dressage competition on the 1st December... i am mega excited But i am only going to use it once to practise and clean it straight after and keep it in my room till the comp and then, i will only use it for comps up until Christmas, after Christmas i am going to ride in it normally and stuff!!!!! I am dead excited... can't wait till Saturday, they are bringing a car load to try. Sadly it won't be leather cause they didn't have any black leather ones, but she said she would look and see. But i don't mind cause if i get a synthetic one they are easier to look after and seen as i am only just starting out, if i get really serious into dressage i will buy a leather one!!
Just had to share the awesome news, i will get pics of Jimbo with it on!

Thats exciting...I just bought one off ebay actually! What kind are you getting? I've ridden in Wintec Isabelles (synthetic) and they are great saddles.

uuuurgh i HATE wintecs. my mom loves her wintec and got one for herself to ride Nikita in and i had to use it while we were fitting for saddles a while back. I just got a deep seat County dressage saddle, all black. i absolutley LOVE IT. it is 1 yr old then the girl who got it for her horse had a baby and sold her dressage horse then i got it for like 1,200 or something. But yeah... if ur looking for a nice one, try out a county! dont need to go as expensive as mine cuz i use mine pretty extensivley obvisouly cuz i ride dressage, but u could get a nice used/older one. mine was just expesnive cuz it was a year old and hardly used. i had to like brake it in lol. Good luck with it Enjoy it!! haha

very cool. what kind of saddle is it? Are you dead set on black leather? Nah that's okay. There's a big difference in Wintec models too...like the Wintec 500 = YUCK but I do like the Wintec Isabelle...plus different saddles sit right for one person and sit terrible for another. I attempted to bid on a really nice used County Competitor but the bidding went over $1400 which was too much. So I settled for a new Prestige 2000D for $1075. Soooo, hopefully I will like it as much as I liked the County when I sat in it.

Yeah deffinatly. I just have not been pleased with any wintec i've tried. Im pretty picky. I had a stubben on trial and it fit nikita great but it didnt fit me. I was able to find a County that fit nikita AMAZINGLY. I could have gone with the stubben, i liked it but if i was gonna spend 1 grand on a saddle, it was gonna be a nice saddle that i loved. I just wasnt feelin it with the stubben lol. Im in love with the county though. (It is actually a county competitor like u were lookin at) So im pleased with it. Although it didnt come with a girth or stirrup leathers. So i have stubben stirrup leathers and a wintec girth...shhh Gabby, we are in the process of looking for an all purpose for her. Cuz for nikita i have my county and my pessoa, so now Gabby i dont want 2 more saddles lol...so thats why im just tryin to get my hands on an all purpose. know any good ones let me know! she is SUPER SUPER hard to fit!! she has like no withers and she is very roundish (QH) we been trying ever since we got her.

all purpose= no purpose you're better off doing your dressage in a well balanced close contact.

Keep in mind Gabby is only a greenie! So im not gonna be showing her anytime soon so im not going to invest in a super nice saddle for her right now, i will IF and only IF i decide to go on with her. and besides...gabby is in training to b e a hunter horse, not a dressage. So im not sure i would invest in a dressage saddle for her if im going with hunter with her and i really really dont want to own 6 saddles!!!! i have 4 already. only reason i have these nice saddles for Nikita is because i actually use them and i actually show her. and unlike alot of people, i pay for my own stuff...i pay for my own rent, my car, my phone bill, my school, my 2 horses board (500 a month!) so getting a saddle like that right now just isnt financially possible. i could invest in cheap hunter saddle but i'd rather not cuz i eventually want to by a nice one someday. and yes for future reference.... Gabby isnt a dressage horse.

I guess for Gabby I would just get a regular jumping saddle since you intend to show her hunters in the future.

Yyyes but she is just doing flat work now. I will eventually invest in one, as for now i will go with ANY saddle that fits her, that will work for what we need it for.
she is super hard to fit!!! she like has no withers, idk...she is just very difficult to fit. So now isnt the time for me to be picky lol.

very cool. what kind of saddle is it? Are you dead set on black leather? Yea cause brown tack doesn't suit him and my event saddle [which was made for him and has all gelpads in the seat and knee rolls and is extremly comfy for us both] is black and i have a black bridles So getting a brown one would mean i have to buy and brown bridle, and i just love him in black! Plus for showing [as in style and appearance] Bays with black manes, tails and legs are meant to be in black tack, so no point buying brown... lol!! I proberly won't get a wintec one because tbh as comfy as some of them are, most give me wedgies haha!! I now have someone who is bringing along 2 black leather ones to try when the saddle fitter is there, so i might be getting a leather one o and the day has changed to monday -sigh- but only because i am going to go upto my aunties to see my mares and buy a tweed jacket and whips and gloves and other things Steph x
