What do you guys wear to keep warm in the winter for riding? It's only December 1, and I'm already freezing my asss off! haha..I'm thinking about buying the Mountain Horse ice rider winter tall boots--are they any good? I also reallyyy badly need to get winter riding gloves and insulated breeches lol.. The winter is definitely the worst time to ride =/ but that's okay.
In other newsss, Sonny was fucking AMAZING today =] I was absolutely amazed by him. We mainly worked on the flat, and didn't do too much jumping.. but he did take a 2'6 oxer beautifully a few times, which made me really proud =] Apparently Caitlin got a few nice pictures and said she'd send them to me =] Whenever I get them, I'll show you guys!
And yeah, my baby (the saddle haha) is amazing and I loveee it =] In a little while I'm gunna take pics of the old one and new one to show you guys =]

Well since "cold" here is like the 50s i don't really need to get winter riding stuff....jeans, regular gloves boots/half chaps and a sweatshirt are perfect ha.
but trust me i freeze my butt off becuase i am a sissy ha. but it would totally not be practial for me to buy any of that stuff ha.
edit: I'm glad you and Sonny had a good ride

well as for the boots i don't think those are the kind i have.. for me i just layer up and keep like tons of hand/foot warmers in my riding bag. ugh we are having an ice storm we already got lots of snow the roads are horrible! thank goodness for 4 wheel drive! haha i went out to the barn today in an ice storm.

I have ariat winter boots, and they're pretty warm. I stay warm enough in regular full seat breeches, but any lined breeches will make a difference. As for a jacket, LAYERS are your best friend. I do a turtle neck, then a fleece, then some sort of jacket with a fill, then a wind breaker. Any loose fleece gloves will be warm, but it's always a good idea to have a few pairs of gloves and put some in the tackroom or somewhere warm and you can rotate gloves when your hands get cold while you're at the barn. Once I'm on my horse I seem to stay pretty warm.

i wear sexy long johns!! haha with my purple winter riding pants which i love so much i sometimes wear them in the summer and these amazing super warm winter riding boots!! Except im really short so, they cover my knees so i have a hard time riding in them but its better than freezing and of course a sweatshirt with my barn jacket.... and gloves! and a headband i got specially made to go under helmets. i forget what winter boots i have...but i've had them for like 4 years and wear them all the time in the winter, and they are still in amazing shape!!!! only thing i dont like is that they are too tall for me and cover my knees so u can see how that would be a little bit of a problem
