well yesterday was Bellas first outing since she came to us 25th Nov 07 and she was pretty well behaved. She loaded really well ont he way there and back and travelled very well too (:.
Got her there she had a look but tied up by the trailer pretty well, moving slightly but not to bad. So Caron [RI] comes over and admires, talks to us etc while we tack up etc. She commented on how color co-ordinated Bella was :-p
On we hopped, Bell was excited and tense and stuff but it was all cool Caron was very understanding. She seemed to like Bella and stuff. When it came to canter Bella started bucking and Caron said something that bnever really crossed my mind "when she bucks, you sit back and down, like people normally do. Shes a racehorse, they arn't used to people sitting on there backs" so i bridged my reins and when asking for a canter didn't sit i n the saddle but just above and let her move below me. We just wanted a nice polite canter transition. She nearly got me off a few times but i got the hang of it in the end and she settled herself down [she gets herself wound up and in a tizz which is why she bucks then she bucks because i'm sat on her and she don't like it etc] so when i started to sit how she said and it got better we did a canter in like each corner [only a few strides then back to trot then back into canter quietly] and bella calmed down and we got a nice canter (:
